Strike vote results must be sent to the Austin District office by the deadline date of March 19, 2009.  The deadline for the DFR-1 forms to be completed by members and forwarded to the local.

Posting of Strike Schedules on our Union bulletin board should take place and our members should be well aware of their duties and responsibilities. 

Collect all Handbills and mail to the Company.

Financially Sound and Well-Positioned for 2009 and the Future: AT&T made $12.9 billion in profits last year. It paid its top executives $33.5 million in 2008 and paid $9.8 billion in dividends to investors. CEO Randall Stephenson says: “despite the economic environment, we grew revenues in 2008 and I expect 2009 will be another year of overall revenue growth and solid progress for our company.”

 

Responsibility to Employees: AT&T has been looking out for its executives and investors, with $33.5 million in executive compensation last year and another $250 million to shareholders (in addition to the $9.8 billion paid in 2008.) It can look out for employees too. AT&T employees are a key part of the company’s success. It should keep its commitments to employees and retirees. Cutting benefits and breaking promises to retirees on fixed incomes is the wrong thing to do in an economic downturn. AT&T should be a leader in helping to turn the economy around, not cutting jobs and benefits.

 

Setting the Right Priorities: These contract talks are an opportunity for AT&T to show why it’s a world class leader in communications and the high tech industry. AT&T also should be a leader in providing the quality jobs of the future and maintaining middle class jobs and standards. A company with $12.9 billion in profits should set an example by recognizing the contributions of employees who have made the company successful.

 

Preserving Good Middle Class Jobs. AT&T should be doing its part to help our struggling economy and support the middle class, not cutting jobs and benefits. AT&T’s move to cut 12,000 jobs while rewarding executives and investors makes the economy weaker and that hurts all of us. 

 

Negotiations: Our goal is positive, productive talks with AT&T. This is an opportunity for AT&T to work with us to do what’s right for the company, AT&T employees and our economy.
